"For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires and insatiable curiosity, will accumulate teachers and will stop listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths" (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

WE DON'T NEED IT

We don't need this so called Baptism in the Spirit! Now why would baptized and confirmed Catholics need the Protestant Baptism in the Spirit?

In the Sacrament of Baptism we are adopted into God's family.

1279
"The fruit of Baptism, or baptismal grace, is a rich reality that includes forgiveness of original sin and all personal sins, birth into the new life by which man becomes an adoptive son of the Father, a member of Christ and a temple of the Holy Spirit. By this very fact the person baptized is incorporated into the Church, the Body of Christ, and made a sharer in the priesthood of Christ."[Catechism of the Catholic Church]

1280
"Baptism imprints on the soul an indelible spiritual sign, the character, which consecrates the baptized person for Christian worship. Because of the character Baptism cannot be repeated." [Catechism of the Catholic Church]

Baptism is a sacrament.
Baptism frees the soul from Original, and if present, mortal and venial sins.
The water signifies the washing away of sin.

Baptism puts sanctifying grace into the soul for the first time.
Baptism brings the Holy Trinity to dwell in the soul.
Baptism makes us children of God.

Baptism makes us members of the Catholic Church.
Baptism enables us to receive the other Sacraments.
The oil represents God’s presence - sanctifying grace.

And the Sacrament of Confirmation gives us a share in the Lord's kingly anointing.

Confirmation is a sacrament.
Confirmation is the completion of our baptismal grace.
Confirmation brings the Holy Spirit to join us more closely to Jesus and his Church.
Confirmation seals and strengthens us as Christ's witnesses.

We receive the Sacrament of Confirmation only once.
Confirmation so conforms us to Christ that the sacrament can never be repeated.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit in Confirmation are: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and the Fear of the Lord.

In the Rite of Confirmation, #25

"All powerful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, by water and the Holy Spirit you freed your sons and daughters from sin and gave them new life. Send your Holy Spirit upon them to be their Helper and Guide. Give them the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of right judgment and courage, the spirit of knowledge and reverence. Fill them with the spirit of wonder and awe in your presence".

Now top THAT you say? But that is exactly what foolish charismatics promote: a Protestant born again experience with a very different sort of seal... One that we really, really don't need!
